PAuL Terms of Service and License Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and DiddiaSix LLC ("we", "us") covering your use of PAuL ("the app"). By installing or using PAuL, you agree to them.

1. License

When you buy PAuL, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the version you purchased, and any updates we provide for that version, on up to [2] Macs that you own or control.

A free trial, if offered, lets you evaluate PAuL for the stated period. After that, recording requires a purchased license.

Your license covers the major version you bought (for example, 1.x). We may offer later major versions as a paid upgrade. The version you purchased keeps working.

2. What you may not do

You may not:

  • share, sell, rent or sublicense your license key, or use it on more Macs than your license allows;
  • circumvent or disable licensing, trial or activation checks;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
  • use PAuL to break any law, including recording and privacy laws.

Open-source components included in PAuL are licensed under their own terms, which are listed under About PAuL → Open-Source Licenses. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licenses.

3. Recording and consent — your responsibility

PAuL records audio, and optionally screenshots, of meetings and calls. It can also start recording automatically when you join a Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex or Google Meet call.

Recording laws vary. Many jurisdictions, including many US states and countries in the EU, require the consent of everyone being recorded. Recording without consent may be a crime and may expose you to civil liability. Employers often have their own policies.

You are solely responsible for:

  • informing participants that they are being recorded;
  • obtaining any consent the law, or your employer, requires;
  • storing and deleting recordings lawfully.

We provide PAuL as a tool and have no control over, or knowledge of, what you record.

4. Third-party AI services

Optional AI features send transcript text to a provider you choose (Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic or OpenAI) using your own account. Your use of those services is governed by your agreement with that provider, including their fees, which you pay directly. AI output can be wrong: check anything important, such as speaker names, decisions or action items, before relying on it.

5. Purchases, refunds and taxes

Purchases are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, which is responsible for payment, applicable sales tax and VAT, and invoicing. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

6. Updates and support

We may provide updates that fix problems or add features, but we are not obliged to. We will try to answer support requests at support@macpaul.app but do not guarantee response times.

7. Your data

Your recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac. See our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for backing up your data.

8. No warranty

PAuL is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that PAuL will be error-free, that recordings will always be captured completely, or that transcripts or AI output will be accurate. Do not rely on PAuL as the only record of anything important.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or recordings, arising from your use of PAuL. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for PAuL. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only to the extent permitted.

10. Termination

Your license ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may stop using PAuL at any time. Sections 3, 4 and 7 to 11 survive termination.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of [state/country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. [Choose a venue or dispute-resolution method.] If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms; the version in effect when you bought PAuL applies to that purchase unless you agree otherwise.
