PAuL Privacy Policy

PAuL ("the app") is made by DiddiaSix LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use PAuL on your Mac.

The short version

  • Your recordings, transcripts and screenshots stay on your Mac. We never receive them.
  • We do not collect analytics, usage data, or crash reports. PAuL contains no tracking.
  • AI features are optional. If you turn them on, the text of the transcripts you choose is sent to the AI provider you configure, using your account.

Information that stays on your Mac

PAuL stores the following only on your Mac, in the folder you choose. We have no access to it:

  • Audio recordings of your meetings and calls.
  • Transcripts. Speech is converted to text on your Mac.
  • Speaker labels. Separating speakers happens on your Mac.
  • Screenshots, if you enable screen capture.
  • Dictation. When you dictate a question, speech recognition runs on your Mac. PAuL requires on-device recognition and will not send your voice to Apple.
  • Calendar information. If you use automatic meeting recording with Microsoft Outlook, PAuL reads the title of the meeting in progress from Outlook on your Mac to name the recording. It is not sent anywhere.
  • API keys you enter for AI providers are stored in your Mac's Keychain.

Deleting a recording in PAuL, or deleting its files, removes it. We cannot recover it for you because we never had a copy.

Information that leaves your Mac

AI features (only if you use them)

Identifying speakers by name and the Ask feature use a large language model. When you use them, PAuL sends the text of the relevant transcripts, and your question, to the provider you selected in Settings:

  • Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock), through your own AWS account
  • Anthropic, using your own API key
  • OpenAI, using your own API key

This goes directly from your Mac to that provider. We do not receive it, and it is governed by your agreement with that provider and their privacy policy. Audio and screenshots are never sent. If you do not configure a provider, nothing is sent.

Downloading the transcription model

The first time you transcribe, PAuL downloads its speech-recognition model from Hugging Face, which sees your IP address as with any download. No recordings or transcripts are sent.

Purchases and licensing

Purchases are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment, tax and invoicing. They collect your name, email, payment details and billing address under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can deliver and support your license. License keys are checked on your Mac; PAuL does not contact us, or anyone else, to verify your license.

Recording other people

PAuL can record calls and meetings, including automatically when you join a Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex or Google Meet call. You are responsible for telling participants and getting any consent the law requires. Many places require the consent of everyone on a call. See our Terms of Service.

Children

PAuL is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because your content stays on your Mac, you already control it. For purchase records we hold (your email and order details), you may ask us to access, correct or delete them, subject to legal retention requirements, by contacting us below. Requests about payment data are handled by Paddle.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
